Problem identifying part -Hinge on boot lid glass of Pluriel

If you need help with your C3 Pluriel, that seems specific to the Pluriel (like the roof), ask here. Engine and Transmission problem must be asked in the relevant topic for the problem. The Pluriel shares the same Engine, Gearbox, Brakes and Transmission as the other C3 models (see above for the correct section).

Did you know the Pluriel shares the engines, gearboxes, electrical, audio system, suspension, steering and running gear with the early C3?

Hi Folks,
The nearside hinge on the boot lid glass of my wifes pluriel has broken and now when she tries to open the boot it falls out. I have been to my local citroen dealer but they were unable to identify the part on their computer. We guest at a rail end £35 but were wrong. I've hopefully attached a picture in order that someone can help. It appears to be a rubbish bit of plastic but no one has heard of this part failing. I would be grateful for any help. The part is at the top left of the rear glass, under the little plastic & rubber flaps. I think the wire coil in the picture (which pulls out with the glass) carries the electrics for the rear demister or the latch.

Hi screeminjesus

The part looks like the hinge, a plastic part under lots of pressure, designed to fail.

This is a view of a broken hinge, viewed side on

The picture of the broken hinge is thanks to https://www.chevroncitroenspecialists.com and the picture appears on their page https://chevroncitroenspecialists.com/page7.htm

A view of an unbroken hinge, with the arms attached looks like this

This picture is thanks to https://www.frenchdiagnosticservices.com and is found on https://www.frenchdiagnosticservices.com/citroen-pluriel

I can't see the part on Citroens system either. It doesn't seem to be listed.

Update: (Its Citroen part number 8484.C2 or 8484C2)

If you are passing your citroen garage again, you could ask about part "8484 C2" for the pluriel. Its a kit of parts called "CABLE MECHANISM RH
LEFT" and contains 4 distinct parts.

The parts are the 4 screws and what looks like the 2 arms for the hinge and the actual plastic hinge part.

There is a left hand and a right hand kit, the right hand being "8484 C5". Well worth investigating. The hinge kit appears on the 'roof' pages, rather than the 'boot' pages, which may explain why your Citroen parts guy couldn't find it.

I spoke to the guys at French diagnosis centre but as soon as I told them I couldn't get the car to them they weren't interested. Wouldnt even supply the part. Dealer in Newcastle has identified part but doesn't touch roofs, said nearest Citroen centre that did was Edinburgh. Next question is how to fit it. I was in the Army for 10 years as a Vehicle Mechanic so I know my way around vehicles however none of ours had roofs like this. Can you give me some idea as to how to go about replacing it? Thanks

I don't know, sorry. My advice would be, like anything new is to take it all apart. Take photos on the way, label up the parts/bag them up with labels, Eventually you will find out how it comes out and realise you didn't need to do half as much work to get it out.

But, you will be ready for the other side when it fails. If you do take on the job, a few words and some photos would be nice :D

Good Luck!

Hi there, tonight the same thing has happened to me. Left side hinge, I was wondering if you have any advice on how you solved this issue, was it easy to swap for a new hinge?

Hi Cosmos69, follow the link in the reply posted just above your question by C3CAR and you should be able to sort it fairly easily.
