Hey,

I'm supposed to get my windscreen replaced in a few days so I was looking at how the rearview mirror and led strip is removed. I'm worried the technicians will break it if I can't explain it to them. I have the 2009 Exclusive which has a black strip down the centre of the glass with led lights that come on automatically at night. Does anyone know the 'safest' way to remove these? I have attached a pic (not my car).

Thanks.

Hi

These things are often bonded to the glass with adhesive and the sensor may have adhesive foam.

I wouldn't take it to a glass fitter that doesn't know how to do it properly. It is not your job to tell the professionals how to do their job, best to find someone who knows.

The way to remove the bonding is with a heated cheese wire that slices through the bonding.

A professional will have the tool, a DIY guy may not.
