Its been a long time coming :)

But it's working!

Upgrade the display on early C3s (2002) models to show the MPG and other information stored in the BSI but not shown on any screen.

This is the information available in the BSI and the BSI is happy to keep this to itself :o
Finding the fuel consumption in the BSI was really the reason these topics started. If the BSI has MPG, and later models can show MPG, why can't an early model (2002)?

The latest results:

Miles to Empty display on a Citroen C3
72.5MPG Citroen C3 2002 display
72.5MPG Citroen C3 2002 display
a working MPG, MPG average, Miles to Empty display :)

This is Part 3 and is about changing the software options and demonstrating the new feature. The early C3 models from 2002 missed having the MPG displayed but the information is available in the BSI.

Part1 covers upgrading the 1 line figure 8 display to a multi line dot display.
Part1: citroen-c3-tips/upgrading-the-dashboard ... -t476.html

Part2 covers changing the display backlight colour from green to orange (or any other colour)
Part2: citroen-c3-tips/upgrading-the-dashboard ... -t477.html

The COM2002 had been changed to include the stalk end that has the trip computer signal identified by 'O' on the stalk as seen in below
Citroen C3 stalk with circle for trip computer
Citroen C3 stalk with circle for trip computer
from the original stalk which had a 'SRC' button for radio control
Citroen C3 stalk control with SRC function for radio
Citroen C3 stalk control with SRC function for radio
With the new button (and COM2002) in place the BSI can see the button input but not that is not enough to trigger anything to be displayed.
Trip button input is detected by the BSI from the COM2002 stalk control 'O'
Trip button input is detected by the BSI from the COM2002 stalk control 'O'

BSI needs some configuration if it refuses to show the MPG on the central display, use the lexia tool to do this.

I had to change the BSI -> Configuration for Vehicle definition - Equipment - Driving information, 'Display of trip computer information on the control panel' to NO (from YES).

Control panel is not the central display 'ECRAN'.

Then test the stalk button. Tap cycles through the menu options and long press makes a selection.

Very impressive. Didn't realise earlier C3s didn't have the feature anyway.
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried

Thanks, its a feature that I found useful on other cars and was quite pleased to get it working :)

I'm loving this info and I have updated my multiscreen with the info supplied.
I have a wiper stalk with the 'O' rather than SRS already fitted.
BUT..... I don't have the option in lexia for changing from yes to no.
I guess my com2002 doesn't have the capability.
So... My request... No, I'm begging!
If anyone who has a mk1 that shows trip info AND has lexia could let me know the part number of your com2002 the next time you have lexia connected I would be very grateful.

As a side note.
A com2005 with the separate radio stalk is no good. The car doesn't see it at all.
Thanks very much.

Do you have the latest update to the BSI?

If you have a fault can you post a question in Questions about a Citroen C3 not related to the fuel type and add lexia screen shots to show what you have and what is missing.
You can add an avatar to your account - Avatar or change your vehicle details - Car Bio or even add a signature to your posts - Signature. But this is not all you can do in the User Control Panel :)

Thanks for the advice.
The BSI has no update available.
I don't have a fault, I just don't have the option in lexia.
I will have to find the part number and change the com2002.
