Over a year ago, we had the ABS, ESP fault on our 110bhp HDi C3, (fitted with disc rear brakes). It was diagnosed as a rear ABS sensor fault, but when they fitted the new ensor, they found that the ABS ring had corroded and needed to replace that as well. As the car was still under extended warranty, the sensor was paid for, but there was a small charge for fitting the ring. All was well until just before Christmas, when we had the same alarms. So I took it in, and this time they found the ABS ring on the other side had corroded, but the sensor was OK. Changed the ring and it was OK
So just a heads up. If you do get the warning, as well as inspecting the connectors at the wheel, have a look at the rings. You may save a lot of money by getting them changed if you find them corroded.
Inexpensive ABS/ESP warning fix
