I wondered if there was a way to manually close (or open) the roof.
I went on-line an trawled around but couldn't find anything. I don't know if this is common knowledge or not but here is what I discovered.
I pulled the drive motor out of the wrecker C3 I have and studied it to see if I could unravel it's secrets...and I did!
I took the gear cover off and discovered the main drive gear, the gear that actually pushes and pulls the cables that move the roof had a funny metal insert in it. The gear separated into a plastic and metal gear that formed a clutch. I found that the metal gear is spring loaded. So pushing on the metal gear disengages the metal gear from the motor drive system. OK so how to apply this to manually opening (closing) the sun roof.
You need to apply forward pressure to the adjustment knob assembly then pull downwards on the back of the knob assembly. There are 3 claws holding the assembly in place. 2 at the front (closest to the windscreen) and one at the back (if my knob is around the right way!!). You will need either a T25 torx bit or a 4mm Allen key to turn the drive gear. Insert the bit and push inwards to disengage the clutch teeth. Turn the drive clockwise to close the roof and counter clockwise to open it. I found applying upward pressure to the rear of the sliding glass panel helps to get the assembly moving when you are opening the panel.
Good luck
