This procedure also appears in How to reset the BSI on a Citroen C3 but I think it deserves a topic of its own - 'How to disconnect the battery on a Citroen C3'

Open the drivers window and the bonnet.
Close all the doors, switch off everything, like the radio, phone charger etc.
Remove the ignition key via the open window
WAIT 10 minutes
Disconnect the battery.

(change the battery at this point, or do the work that needs the power off)

Reconnect the battery,
WAIT 1 minute
Keeping the doors closed, lean in via the drivers window
Switch on the 'ignition' (Don't start the engine)
Switch on lights (Dipped, normal driving lights)
WAIT 30 Seconds
Start the car

Following these instructions will help preserve the sanity of the BSI computer module in the passenger fusebox.
Avoid jump starting or 'boosting' the C3 to reduce the possibility of damage to the onboard computers.

If your battery is getting past it 3 or 5 year warranty period, it would be prudent to replace it before it starts giving you trouble.
