You can find the Citroen C3 coolant reservoir located in the engine bay.

To the left of the engine bay is the blue screenwash cap and next to this is the coolant reservoir with its black pressure cap. On the cap there is a warning.

Do not remove the cap while the engine is still warm. Superheated steam can escape from the coolant reservoir if the cap is removed while the coolant is still hot.

The plastic container below the coolant reservoir cap is the coolant reservoir that contains some spare coolant for the engine and a handy guide to the coolant level moulded into the body of the coolant reservoir.

The pink/red colour of the engine coolant should be visible through the plastic body of the coolant reservoir to view the level. If your coolant is blue or brown or you can't see a level because the coolant reservoir is black inside, brown inside or empty inside you need to get the cause looked at. It may need a 'top-up', a flush or a serious engine problem, all depending on what is going on in there.

The level of the pink/red coolant is seen between the MINI and MAXI marks on the side of the coolant reservoir.

The diesel engine cars have a coolant level sensor in the expansion tank. Petrol engine models do not.

The "low coolant level" sensor for petrol cars is located in the head under the thermostat housing. The electrical connector is blue.
Low coolant level causes all the temperature bars of the temp indicator to come on and the top red bar flashes. This is for the pre 2005 cars. Post 2005 causes a message on the central display and brings on the temp light.
