Apologies if this has already been reported. This is common knowledge on the C3/C5 Aircross and C4 Cactus forums. I haven't seen it mentioned on here.

There is an issue with the 1.2 petrol engines where the rubber cambelt runs in oil/mist. The problem was only on turbocharged engines, and as far as I know was sorted for 2018 cars. The issue is that the oil and/or particles caused the belt to wear, the wear particles then clogged the oil pump and the engine starved of oil. If you have one of these engines in a car from 2017 or earlier, I would suggest you contact an agent as soon as possible.

More info, thanks to Hiboost on C3 Aircross

Further to this:

There is a safety recall (JZR) on the 110/130 Puretech Engines details here.... - Click Here -
on a Peugeot forum

Concerns March 2013 - April 2017 built Puretech 110 / 130 engines.

I was wondering why the issue already reported was limited to 110bhp and above. Seems like the braking assistance is provided by a driven vacuum pump which may clog with the detritus from the belt. Presumably the assistance in non-turbo engines is conventionally powered by manifold vacuum.

Quoting from one of the posts: Depending on the size distribution of the belt debris, belt debris may first clog the oil filter. In that case, the oil filter open its bypass valve without alarm. The oil pressure alarm toggle only if the oil pump strainer is clogged first.
When belt debris enter the pressured oil circuit, they will clog the vacuum pump strainer (which is very small) and kill it.

Just had a notice to book in the car for a safety recall. Bit vague but it seems to point to a software update and check of timing belt and brake vacuum pump. I guess others have had this notice too.

You are the first person who has reported a UK recall on the 4 Citroen forums I look at, although letters have been sent out on the continent.

I am booked in for the 24th feb. the local dealer seemed to know all about it when i quoted the reference.

I see this is under a cambelt issue. My recall is more about a problem with the braking system which may suddenly fail as a result of the vacuum pump because of shredded parts of the belt entering the pump and causing it to fail. The recall does mention that the pump and belt will be inspected and replaced if need be as well as a software update.

Got the work done. All good, only thing that needed doing was the software update, belt and pump were fine.

I had the car in for the recall...I have the video from the day and at the MOT they are telling me I have a oil leak from the sump, which was not there on the video. Does anyone here know what work was supposed to be involved for this recall...the dealer tells me that there was only a software update. Julie

An oil leak on the sump may not be a spurting leak, a gushing leak or even dripping.

Did you look at the leak on the sump?
