The PCV is the Positive Crankcase Ventilation system used to feed back crankcase gasses to the inlet manifold.

The PCV valve can fail causing oil in the intake

While it is possible to repair the PCV, it isn't much more difficult or expensive to replace the complete unit and it will be off if the inlet manifold is removed. A new unit comes with a new gasket, which should be fitted anyway.

The original PCV on the 1.4 16v has a twin breather from the crankcase. This system was modified on the later 1.6 16v to reduce the number of vents to one. The new part (0248.L1) supersedes the old 0248.K4 which has become unavailable as a new part. Fit the new modified part in place of the old.

Replacement of the C3 PCV is quite straight forward.

Remove the right hand intake pipe from the MAF and Turbo and the tee from the PCV.

Remove the bolts from around the PCV, with the bolts removed the PCV assembly will lift off complete. If its stuck and all the bolts are out then it will just be the gasket sticking.

Lift off the PCV off the cam cover and disengage the injector cables loom from it.

If you plan to do further work on the engine, like removing the inlet manifold or removing an injector, cover the exposed camshaft with some plastic to keep things from falling into the engine.
