The 1.4 and 1.6 diesel engines are fitted with pre-heaters. These engine pre-heaters also operate in the post-heating mode and were often called 'glow-plugs'. The pre heaters got the name glow-plug because the heated end would glow when they were powered with 12v.

There is one pre-heater per cylinder operated in parallel by a pre-heat relay.

The 1.4 preheating relay is located behind the front bumper, as shown in the photo.

The pre-heat relay power supply is connected directly to the battery live line to the BSM/Maxifuses.

The Citroen C3 pre heaters are not fused, there is a direct supply from the relay.

You will not find a fuse for the pre-heaters or a fuse for the pre heater relay. This could well be one of the reasons that pre-heater relay will fail with a bad pre-heater.
