Thanks a lot for your reply, much appreciated. I still haven't bought any speakers yet as can't make up my mind.
I had seen the TS-Q171C and liked the look of them until I read a couple of reviews saying they lacked bass and also the frequency response for those is less than the TS-1702i speakers (although I really don't know how much difference this makes!!).
I found a link which which shows all the pioneer speakers suitable for a C3 - https://www.pioneer.eu/uk/products/car_a ... akers.html

ive recently upgraded the audio in my 2002 citroen c3 1.4 HDI 16v diesel
i used the following kit for the front speakers and it was relativly easy to fit i didnt have to splice any wires and despite being deeper than 46mm they fit just fine without interferring with the front windows when they are retracted into the door. (Pioneer TS-Q171C) https://www.pioneer.eu/uk/products/25/13 ... /page.html
the dimension of the speakers i have fitted can be found at the above link. im overall very happy with my purchase as the kit includes all the adapter cables and fittings required to fit the speakers.
for the rear i have ordered Pioneer TS-G1322i (https://www.pioneer.eu/uk/products/25/13 ... /page.html) i have not fitted them yet but hopefully i will be this weekend. i just thought i would inform people of what ive used on here to help them make a decision on what they may be able to fit to there car
