Front and rear speakers can be easily replaced.
(for improved sound quality, power handling with a new head unit or amp, or just because the speakers are quite a few years old)
After removing the internal door panel....
You will need to drill out the light weight rivets holding the original speakers in place and fit the new speakers with self tapping screws.
The size speaker required for the front door are SLIM (very important, otherwise the front window won't fully open) 6.5" or 160mm diameter.
The rears are 130mm or 5" speakers, you don't have to have slim rears as there is plenty of room for the rear window to open without hitting the speaker.
Suggestion for Rear Speakers for a Citroen C3
The FLI Audio Integrator 5 5.25" inch 130mm 3-Way Triaxial 180 Watts Car Door Coaxial Speakers Set (click here)
Edge Audio ED305 5.25" 130mm 210w 210 Watts Car Door Component Speakers Set (click here)
[/url]
The main speakers from the ED305 kit which also includes high frequency speakers with a pair of crossovers that fit the C3 rear doors.
Or how about some component speakers (like these: ED305 210Watt C3 Rear + Tweeter Component for the rear - a base 5.25 inch unit with a separate high frequency 'tweeter', fit the HF unit higher up the door to improve the clarity of the sound, while the lower frequency bass unit fits in the Citroen rear door pods.
If your C3 doesn't have factory fitted rear speakers, you may require some C3 Rear door speaker fitting plate to fix your new speakers to.

Its not as complicated as it looks.
The Radio does NOT control the auto lights or auto wipers.
If you want to continue to use the citroen stalk volume control you will need a special adaptor to fit between the citroen wiring and your alpine ida-x100.
If you don't mind loosing the function of the stalk volume then just fit the alpine ida-x100 without an extra interface. - The auto lights, auto wiper, indicators etc. will continue to function.
It quite an easy job to remove and refit a radio if you have the right 'radio removing' tools. The standard citroen has standard ISO connectors which should be an easy fit to your alpine ida-x100 - you just need ISO connectors for it if you don't already have them.

Thanks a load for detailing the required sizes mate - just another typical brainwave of the French to design a vehicle with different front and rear sizes though
On this matter, could you possibly detail the maximum depth the front speakers could sit at without interfering with the window? It's slightly easier to find a set of aftermarket speakers which aren't marketed as slim when on a budget, and just find ones which are of a suitable depth.

The the TS-E1702i (available here) are 1 3/4" or 46mm Deep from the back of the mounting face to the end of the speaker, so anything 46mm or less will fit.omarsmith wrote:On this matter, could you possibly detail the maximum depth the front speakers could sit at without interfering with the window? You still have the option to space out the speaker (backing between the speaker and door) with some Speaker Spacer Rings to give you some extra space for deeper speakers.
If you are tight on budget, there are some New Pioneer TS-1702i on eBay (click here) for a good price

Great info guys. The rear left speaker has blown and it sounds horrendous. I need to change it or just disconnect it until I get a new pair.
Can someone please give me instructions on how to take the rear door panel off. There doesn't seem to be any screws around the edges unlike the front.

Hi,
I'm just about to purchase the Pioneer TS-E1702i speakers for my front doors and I'm paying to have them fitted as I'm not confident fitting them myself. I've got two questions - firstly do I need any adapters or anything for these speakers? Secondly, as this thread was started quite a while ago I'm just wondering of there are any other speakers that are possibly newer/better that will fit in the front door with no problems?
Thanks!

Hi emma_c3
But if you have the 6 speaker car (its got front tweeters) and you want to changes those (not necessary, but an option), try the Pioneer TS-Q171C Kit where the new tweeters fit the Citroen hole in the dashboard.

Don't let the age of the tread put you off the Pioneers, great speakers as an upgrade for the C3 2002-2009. Cut and crimp the speaker wires, you won't be refitting the factory onesemma_c3 wrote:I'm just wondering of there are any other speakers that are possibly newer/better that will fit in the front door with no problems?
