Hello
the other day I purchased A citroen c3 05 reg from my local used car showroom.
My question is the I am having trouble with the radio/ cd player.
I can tune the radio station in , I can also play cds , I can hear the music being played but I also hear a bleeping sound over the top of the music coming from the speakers. Not having the radio set up guide book only the car owners manual I have not been able to turn this bleeping sound off . Any ideas what to do.

Hello dragonfly65,

I have had a thumb through the Citroen C3 Navigation and Radio manual. You are not missing much. There is no mention of a beeping or bleeping sound from the radio.

Do you have the Clarion CD unit with Muti-Changer, and Inbuilt Navigation Unit?

If you change the volume of the radio or CD, does the bleeping volume also change?

The C3 does bleep or beep from inside the car to warn the driver to various faults, but never over the radio speakers. The sound comes from an internal sounder independent of the audio system.

The C3 will bleep when a door sensor is showing open and the car is moving or a warning for 'eco-mode' when the battery is draining and the alternator not charging. I am sure there are other reasons for the warnings.

Thanks for the reply to my question.
the bleeping sound only happens when I turn the radio or cd player on.
when I am driving along without the radio or cd player turned on no bleeping sound can be heard.

Just to weed out the obvious, does the sound like the one in this youtube clip?
Thats the noise of mobile phone interference.

A recording of the sound would be helpful, is it possible to record the sound and upload it.

Does the sound only occur when the engine is running?

Sounds like the radio coding to the ECU.

If the radio/CD unit has been swapped out it needs to be reprogrammed to the ECU.

Job for Citroen or someone with a Lexia type programmer or have a go yourself with a lexia tool from this lexia help topic or look here for one on eBay (click here).

Got the problem sorted the other day. Went to citroen dealership had the radio re coded. 6 min job they charged for 30 mins.
£48.00 . bit of a con really . radio works great and cheaper than a new radio.

Thanks for letting us know the fix to the beeping C3 Radio.

I agree, £48 for 6mins is a bit pricey and they didn't even get their hands dirty!

The video below has some audio that shows the beeping through the speakers when the Citroen Clarion radio coding doesn't match the BSI coding. Swapping out the BSI or the Radio can cause this along with corrupt BSI radio coding information. Recode the BSI to the Radio using the Citroen tool - 'LEXIA/DIAGBOX (click here)'

The lexia is a hardware interface that requires a laptop or pc and connects to the C3.

The beeping through the speakers when you have a C3 BSI/radio coding issue
