I currently have the standard Citroen car radio in, which is doing the job but not very well. I can only get a few stations and there is a CD stuck in there. So I am thinking of replacing it. I know that you have to have an adaptor to get the connections into the new radios, but do not know what options of radio I can go for.

Has anyone changed their radio over and if so what did you go for? Also how did the change go with the top display on the dash, did the station still show or will I loose that feature? If it is lost what will it be replaced with?

Anything you want. If you want double din, take out the drawer or cubby. If you want single din, replace the existing unit with the correct wiring harness. If you have stalk controls, use a 'Connects 2' adapter for that.

You may need to add a new fused 12v for the new radio if it is considerably more powerful than the existing one.

But if its noting very powerful, you will need to switch the wires 4 and 7 over on the ISO power plug so it will all work properly.

Thanks for that as I did not think about the stalk controls, but £10 is quite reasonable.

How about the display at the top of the dash (centre) what will that show withthe new radio?

Hi
For a 2002 to 2006
The center display will still show temperature, doors open, ice alerts etc but it may not show any radio information.

Radio, and CD information would depend on the connects 2 box features but this may not be required because most aftermarket radios have their own display anyway.

On the facelift 2006 to 2009 the radio is a lot more connected to the car and it's centre display and most of those features don't work without the original radio or a correct connects 2 adaptor fitted.

Thanks for the replies. Mine is the 2004 so I will not have the issue with the connected radio and should be able to go for the aftermarker one. Thinking about it, if the centre display does not show the station, it is not the end of the world as like you say, the radio will have its own display.

This is the kind of thing that I was thinking.

Has anyone put one of these in the spaces where the original radio goes and the little draw?

This isn't quite the same as your proposed radio but the photos further down might help Double Din Install
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried
