Hi, I appreciate that there's been some considerable discussion on this subject but I cannot get my pioneer radio CD to work. I have read that pins 4 and 7 need to be swapped so I did this with the lead provided by pioneer as it has push connectors which could be swapped easily. The power to the radio is removed after a short delay from switching off the ignition but the radio CD setup information is lost.
After some probing with a DMM I found that pin 7 on the citroen side was 12V with the ignition on and 0V after a short delay from turning off the ignition. Pin 4 was the same. I was expecting pin 7 on the citroen side to remain at 12V to provide the backup supply.
To make things more confusing halfords provided a convertor which swapped pin 7 on the Citroen side to pin 4 on the radio and provided a red flying lead on pin 7 on the radio side.
Should there be a permanent 12V on the Citroen connector?
Any comments would be appreciated

Welcome to the C3 forum simonwin,
Check the fuse F4 in the BSI, other than that maybe use the fly lead to provide a fused permanent 12v on pin 7 from the battery?
Fitting a wire through the fire wall post may help with this: share-tips-about-audio-ice-cd-radio-fou ... -t609.html
I would expect that too. The 12v on pin 7 is fed via fuse F4 on the BSI which is fed by the big MAXI fuses in the engine bay fuse box (you would have other problems too is this was blown).I was expecting pin 7 on the citroen side to remain at 12V to provide the backup supply.

Hi
Thanks for the prompt reply. I did check fuse f4 and f15 but both ok. I'm reluctant to start tapping into the engine bay 12V as this should be a simple installation based on what I have read which makes me believe that I have a fault somewhere or a previous owner has modified the wiring somehow.
Looks like I may have to get a haynes manual to look at the wiring. Perhaps I can find a 12V battery line near where the radio is fired rather than coming from the engine bay.
Wonder if anyone else has had the same problem. Also the adaptor from halfords just throws in more confusion
All a bit confusing!!

The haynes manual is very worth while when dealing with this sort of wiring issue.
You can get them from Amazon (here)

The halfords one sounds like a generic one, rather that a proper one designed for the particular issues found on the C3.Also the adaptor from halfords just throws in more confusion
