Morning,
Does anyone know if you can change the cd player in a new C3 to a genuine citroen bluetooth cd player? I had my 1 yr old C3 in the garage for 4 days getting some bits done and I had a loan car which was a peugeot 207 61 plate. It had as you would expect the same interior virtually though the cd player was the same as mine. The only difference was that it had bluetooth which I found very useful. Not only for calls though for playing my music from my iphone. Im aware you can get after market bluetooth systems though I would like it intergrated. Does anyone know if its possible? Im aware you can buy a hi-fi system which involves conecting and re-wiring the cd player as an optional extra which can be purchased after the car is bought from citroen so i imagine its not a difficult task.
Regards
Craig

Hello there Craig1582, welcome to the forum!
I have not done the job that you describe, but, swapping Citroen for Citroen will require a reprogramming of the new radio to pair up with the car computer.
This is not required if you fit aftermarket, but is required if you fit a Citroen unit to a Citroen car.
The difference between the BT enabled radio and non bluetooth radio is very small, so I expect every success and a simple swap over.
If you get the beeping through the speakers, then the new radio needs coding to the car by a Citroen dealer.
Good Luck and please let us know how you get on.
Some photos and model numbers would make a great reference for others considering the same job, as Bluetooth is such a useful addition.
Thank you

thanks for your reply. do you think its just a case of buying a unit from citroen or are there any other shops, dealers who may sell them?

Hi Craig1582, I can't think of anyone other than citroen for a new one, breakers yard for a used one.
You could find a different bluetooth compatible head unit and fit that to your car?
If you can find out the model number from citroen, then that will give you a much better chance at finding a supplier as all the bits are identified by a number on a computer somewhere.

Hi all,
I have just found out that this can not be done. Citroen state that the wiring and software is to tricky to carry out after purchase therefore they are unable
to offer this. I asked if its not just the case of swapping headsets and they still say it would not work

If a dealer came out with a statement like that I'd be off for a second opinion from another dealer or an audio specialist. I've changed audio systems in many different cars, the hardest to do are the ones where there are physical problems ie the original radio is a specific shape/size, even then it can be done.Craig1582 wrote:Hi all,

If you want to post or PM the manufacture code (date code) of your car and the exact model and I'll do a bit of reasearch into the wiring etc of the audio.
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried

I agree entirely with Missing Lincs,
Kenwood KDC-BT30 CD/MP3 player with Bluetooth
or the Sony MEX-BT3900U Bluetooth Stereo
If you don't get the C3 lead with it, you can get it separately.
There are lots of different leads available to allow you to connect most after market stereos to the C3, there are some here fitting aftermarket stereo in a Citroen C3 topic, but any audio specialist can advise you on what you need when they know what equipment you have.
If you are planning on doing it yourself, just watch for the 'trap' where 'pin 4 and 7 of the power ISO connector are swapped over' for older Citroen C3 models
If Citroen don't want to sell you a factory head unit, then I suggest something like the Kenwood KDC-BT48 Bluetooth StereoIf a dealer came out with a statement like that I'd be off for a second opinion from another dealer
