Hi. I have a problem with a few electrical things. I've put a new head unit in and it's storing radio channels but not the sound settings. It's okay after a few minutes when restarting the car but any more than a few minutes, the unit starts again with the demo/factory settings. BUT the radio channels are always saved. Also, the remote locking doesn't work after a few minutes of no engine use. When I open the door with the key, the remote locking then kicks back into life. I've recently had a new battery fitted. I've had experienced stereo fitters scratching their heads with it, all relevant wires have been swapped around the problems persist. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Common problem. The incorrect wiring changes have been made for the battery backup and 'ignition' live feeds for the C3

This is linked to the above problem where the CL is put into deep sleep because of excessive battery drain due to incorrect wiring to the after market radio.

All relevant wires are not connected correctly.

If you want to prove my above statement, just remove the aftermarket head unit from the car (disconnect it from the car) and see that the Central Locking goes back to normal. Its a simple test to prove its the radio.

Solution:

Swap pins/wires 4 and 7 over on the ISO power plug is sufficient for low to mid power head units. Or buy the swapping lead on eBay (here) :)

Any head unit that draws a heavy current will need an extra fused feed to the battery rather than just a swap, but swapping is OK for most like for like radio swaps (power wise).

Hiya I've got exactly the same problem.
Will this adapter turn off the radio when I turn my car off?
Also do I need another adapter to make my steering control for stereo work?

Yes

Yes, one of these adaptors if your new headunit is SWC compatible.

Hiya really sorry but what does sec compatible mean.
Will this sort my steering wheel control AND turn my radio off when I turn of my car as I have that problem too. Also my key fob didnt work until i put my factory fitted one back in. So I'm guessing it's all related. It's a bloody nightmare.
I was told to come on here as even tho it is all over my head someone on here will be able to point me to what I need :)

SWC - steering wheel controls.

You can't make the factory fitted C3 steering wheel controls work with an aftermarket headunit if the aftermarket does not support that function.
