I'm buying a Citroen C3 03 1.4 SX model this Thursday and wanted to know if the SX model or if any of the 2003 models come with an Auxiliary Input Socket?

I need to know whether I should buy a new stereo unit?

Hi michaelaka

I am not aware of any of the 2003 models with an aux input, you need to get to 2011 until you see those sort of features.

Have a look at this selection of car Stereos that will fit the C3 and most have aux input or bluetooth input.

The is only one minor thing to be aware of when fitting an after market head unit to a C3 is to swap pins 4 and 7 over on the ISO power plug so ensure the radio stays under computer control. A car audio expert will know what to do.

A video tutorial sounds like a great idea.

There is quite a bit of info on this site about it, but not a definitive 'guide',

When are you getting the car?

use this lead from eBay between your new stereo ISO connector and the original citroen wiring to do the job of switching the required pins 4 and 7 over.

These Citroen C3 early model radio removal keys are necessary to remove the old Citroen radio.

When you buy your new stereo, get the optional ISO leads if its not sold with an ISO connector or has ISO leads in the box, use these ISO leads with the lead suggested above.

This Thursday.

I was also told by a friend that i could just replace the face with one that has an AUX input? Would I still need to change the pins?

This Thursday.
Exciting :D

Unfortunately the radio/cd in the 2003 C3 is just one complete unit, you can't remove the 'face' you need to remove and replace the whole stereo unit.

If you fit a non citroen stereo in its place, you need swap pins 4 and 7 over or use this lead from eBay to make it nice and easy :)

I don't know what you plan to use your aux input for, so this may not be relevant, but I have one of these MP3 FM Transmitter with AUX in. It plugs into the cigarette lighter socket and takes an SD card, USB memory stick and has a socket for 'aux in'. The music then plays from the MP3 or 'aux in' socket over the radio. Its compatible with the standard C3 radios and fits the cigarette lighter nicely. You don't need to remove the radio or make any wiring changes. Its a very easy to fit solution.

They are also available on Amazon.co.uk in various designs and colour options - HERE.
Lots can be found here on eBay.

Not as nice as a new stereo, but a good interim solution while you find the right stereo for you.

I plan to use it to play music from my iPhone 5.

I read something about these and that the quality isn't good? What's your honest perspective on this?

I have 2 more questions.
1) Will the Alba ICS104 CD Car Stereo work with my Citroen C3?
2) Can the cigarette lighter be used as a charging dock?

I am really impressed with the quality of this one, it sounds as good as a strong FM station on my C3 factory fitted stereo. I play MP3s from the memory card. A 'tip' would be to tune the unit into an unused part of the radio channels, for me this is down by 88Mhz.

1) Will the Alba ICS104 CD Car Stereo work with my Citroen C3?
Yes the Alba ICS104 will fit, all single DIN after market units will fit the C3. But you will always need the 'switch 4 and 7 cable or provide extra fused power' if you don't want to be modifying electrical connections. You will also need the optional ISO lead if the radio is not fitted with an ISO socket on the back.
2) Can the cigarette lighter be used as a charging dock?
Yes :)
