dash not holding memory

hello I fitted a after market head unit without blowing my car this time. I did the wire thing and the stereo switches off couple of minutes after being central locked. but!!!! now my car dash doesn't hold memory and continually resets the time yet the stereo holds memory. do u have any advice I bought a wiring harness and made no difference
I have a 52 plate c3 1.4

This is a symptom of the 4 and 7 wire swap not being completed fully.

Swap 4 with 7 and (7 with 4). Double check your connections are good.

Check fuses in the BSI?

did 4 with 7 and 7 with 4 connections all good and bsi fuses are all good

I fitted a after market head unit without blowing my car this time.
Was there a problem with this car, where something was damaged when the stereo was fitted initially?

If there was some 'blowing up', smoke, smell, blown fuses, this could be the reason for the dash display to not work correctly.
