Please indicate if there is a Citroen CD multi-changer, drawer or cubby under the CD/Radio, if there is the Navigation unit, CD or Radio options.

I have just purchased a 2010 C3 with the Exclusive trim package. It has the Monochrome A screen and, I believe, the RD4 radio. Here is a photo
IMG_1401.jpg
What I want, at a minimum, is to be able to use my mobile phone hands-free in the car. I would prefer this be accomplished some level of integration with the car audio system.

I have searched this, and other (French and English) forums and have found several options, but even more unanswered questions. Here is what I have found and my related concerns.

Option 1. Simply upgrade the existing audio system to a Monochrome C screen.
Questions.
  • Do I just need the new screen, or do also need a new radio or other interface/backend equipment?
What is/are the appropriate Citroen part numbers?
Option 2. Keep the existing radio and get something like the Denision Gateway Pro.
Question.
  • Will this work with the Monochrome A screen and if so, what information is displayed (Incoming caller ID, phone list, call history, etc)?
Option 3. Replace the existing radio with a Double-DIN adapter and buy a new unit with GPS and BT. This is probably not my favorite option because the location of the unit is not good for use as a GPS screen.
Question.
  • How do I then set the vehicle options that are currently set with the radio Menu button?
Option 4. Replace the dashboard cowling (from the gauges to the passenger side) with the plastic from a MyWay installation and then install a double-DIN unit, perhaps the NavInc NII-CIT-C3.
Questions.
  • How do I set the vehicle options (see Nr 3 above)?
Where do I find the replacement plastic bit - and what in the world is that called in French?
I am sure there are numerous combinations of these choices that should be considering. So, any ideas, help, pointers, etc. would be most appreciated.

You could just go for a parrot CK3100 with minimal changes to the existing C3 parts and it will integrate into the existing audio system for calls over the car speakers.

You set the options with the existing factor fit stereo and music is played from the second din unit.
I have seen the plastic parts that you descbibe, but I don't know what they are called in French.

I have made some progress. Based on a thread on the ds3club.co.uk forum, it seems the Monochrome C screen can be retrofitted in place of the Monochrome A. There appear to be a fair number of sources for the "C" screen. However, once the screen is fitted, it needs to be programmed. Is this something a user can do or does it require a visit, and payment, to a Citroen dealer?

Once that is done, it seems I have two ways to go the get hands-free working:
1. Buy the Citroen BT interface, available from EBay and other locations. Or, buy the Dension Gateway Pro BT. The factory adapter would require programming, the Dension adapter would not. Also, it seems the Dension product provides some nice additional features for USB and iPhone integration.

I would love to hear from anyone who has successfully done either of these mods.

Regarding option 4. While that option would provide the nicest physical installation, a double-DIN radio at eye height, it seems like there would be a lot of minor irritations (as @c3car noted) and as I have heard from the NavInc vendor. I am not sure this would go over well with the spouse. But, just to se what might be possible, has anyone here successfully installed a Double-DIN GPS/BT system in their C3 and passed the spouse test?

All of these programming type jobs require a diagbox clone at home or the original by a visit to Citroen. Both cost money but the clone can be used again and again and then sold on, whereas you will need to pay for each session at Citroen. Hopefully you will only need one session, but you never know.
