LOL! "Coding" is just me being pedantic. Call it what you like. :D

LEXIA will run on a number of versions of windows. Just ask the question in the "LEXIA and diagbox questions" area.
There are guys here who are better on the home PC side of things than me.
That 30 pound would be better off going toward a LEXIA in that case.

Just a quick note of thanks for the info given earlier, I temporarily fitted the RD4 unit we had from the earlier car into our current car and it was indeed operational to the point of being able to change / set the car's time and date so that is a good work around for our problem.

I'm still looking at getting the VIN in the RD4 matched to the current car, also looking into the connects2 route to allow clock setting via the media control stalk because although I would much rather put the RD4 back in, SWMBO likes the bluetooth feature of the JVC unit.

I don't suppose there is a drop-in OEM RDx unit which has Bluetooth built in for this age of car? (2009). I realise I would have to get the VIN changed.

I know there are third party add on Bluetooth units for the RD4 but I am not sure if that will need me to turn on features of the radio (CD changer?) using Lexia / Diagbox which I do not have.

Unfortunately it seems you need access to a LEXIA either way. Yes the aftermarket Bluetooth dongles do fit the RD4, but you will need to activate the #1 aux input using...LEXIA.
