Hi,
Has anyone changed their aerial?
I'm thinking of changing my aerial to one that supports DAB and FM. I've got a magnetic aerial for DAB at the moment but I keep it in the door pocket - it works quite well in my immediate area but there are a number of dead spots on the way to work. I know I could put it outside the car but I don't want to look like a taxi haha!
I was just wondering whether anyone has had any experience of completely changing their aerial.

Hi me_54m
When I saw the title of your question, I thought 'easy, it just unscrews', but further reading changes my thoughts.
I have never removed the complete aerial with its base and I would imagine its a bit of an involved job.
But my suggestion is a window mounted DAB aerial, like one of these on ebay (click here). The advantake of the DAB aerial is its small size, making it ideal for a window mount aerial.
Match your radio manufacturer to the listings to get one with the right connector for the kit you own.

Its not so bad, if you can release the headlining by removing the seal around the boot opening it is possible to access the nut that holds the aerial base to the roof of the car.Arfur Dent wrote:I have never removed the complete aerial with its base and I would imagine its a bit of an involved job.
You can then replace the whole thing with one of these - although the wires look a bit on the short side

I will have to investigate dropping the headlining at the weekend. I think the C pillars could be a problem with the seatbelts.
Another option would be one of these https://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/Kinetic_DE ... erial.html I think it would be fairly discreet behind the rear view mirror. It's just whether it would work with the black coating on the windscreen.
