Apologies if this is a stupid post.
I've just bought a C3 Flair 2019, and am struggling to get the Apple Carplay to work.
The carplay icon in the phone menu is greyed out, and nothing happens when I plug an iphone in via USB (tried two different phones, and two different cables).
Is Carplay an additional feature that may or may not be enabled on a 2019 car? I thought it was standard by that year?
Android Auto is not greyed out but as I don't use an Android phone, I cant check if it works or not.
I've updated the infotainment software to the latest 96D, but no change in behaviour.
The phone does charge from the USB port, but that's all.
It connects via Bluetooth ok. Carplay doesn't work if disconnected from BT and just connected via USB either.
Thanks, Andy

Hi
Citroen says:
Citroen says:
Have you activated it on the phone? For the CarPlay® technology, the CarPlay® function must be activated on the smartphone beforehand.
For the communication process between the smartphone and the system to work, it is essential in all cases that the smartphone is unlocked.

In other cars I have used Carplay on (e.g. a two year old MG), you just plug in a USB cable and up it pops on the ICE device.
I don't think there's anything to 'activate' on the iphone.
There used to be on older versions of Ios where there was a specific CarPlay app, I believe.
But this is an up to date iphone.
Am wondering if its normal for the Carplay icon to be greyed out, whereas the Android Auto is not.

just saw a youtube video demonstrating this, and carplay is also greyed out, and Android Auto not - but works once you plug in. That certainly confuses me.
I'm not sure my cables are Apple-certified, so am going to buy another genuine apple one and see if that helps.

And answering my own question:
CarPlay icon only leaves "greyed out" mode when the phone is successfully communicating over USB.
It turned out both the cables I had used were "charging cables" - and not official Apple cables.
Found an original apple cable, and lo and behold it communicates, the CarPlay icon becomes ungreyed, and Carplay works.
You live and learn.
Cheap cables that charge an iphone do not do the proper job...
