Hi all
This is my first post so apologies if it's a bit shabby.
I have 04 citron c3 desire and I am currently pulling my hair out trying to fit sub. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have bought a negative battery terminal from Halfords (pictured) so I can crimp power cable for the amp, to the car's battery but how do I remove the stock quick release terminal similar to the one pictured??? Or can I buy something like a large ring terminal to fit under the quick release stock One without having to remove it, or can I just cut the quick release one off and crimp power cable together using one I bought?? HELP PLEASEEE.

Welcome to the forum JTizzle
If you wanted to keep the quick connect and disconnect feature, you could try a Quick Connectors found on eBay. But also consider there is enough slack in the live cable to allow a small amount of chopping and stripping.
If there is enough slack in that live cable, sure you can just cut off the quick connector, but you need to check you have the right size replacement connector as the one you bought was a negative one and the quick connector is on the positive connector of the battery.can I just cut the quick release one off and crimp power cable together using one I bought??

You may be able to slacken the release latch and slip a Yellow Crimp - Blade between the battery terminal and the release latch. The yellow blade may not be big enough to take your power cable though, depends on the cable diameter. Most yellow crimps take somewhere between 5 and 6.5mm it depends on the manufacturer.
Use a pair of Ratchet Crimping Pliers to make a good job of those types of crimp.

Or you could put a connector like the one C3 suggest on your wire and then use either a screw type hose clip or a crimp one to hold the connector onto the battery terminal where it joins onto the wire? Heatshrink or insulating tape would be a good idea and a fuse as soon as practical in the new wire (ie within a few cm of th battery).

Ace! I'm going to take the negative terminal back to gashfords and get positive one, cut battery wire n crimp the power cable with the two screws, hopefully there will be enough slack with battery cable to fit terminal.
I really appreciate your help! I'll put some photos up when I'm done. Quick question, do you know if there is enough room to thread the power cable alongside the wiring loom? Or will I have to drill through metal.
Got plans to plastidip and colour code blaze blue alloys with citron badge, get some 40mm lowering springs and these headlight brows

Hello JTizzle, I put some photos of the grommets I found that allow wires through the firewall. They were suggestions that were worth investigating but that is as far as it went.
this is the post
feedback on the suggestions is very welcome, as is any extra information you find along the way, like the best route for cables etc. It will be nice to see the photos

Wow I'll be lucky to get anything through that loom in second photo, looks as tight as a ducks backside. Thanks for the link, I'll have a proper look soon for the grommet in the first image in that thread. I've got myself prepared to have to drill through metal though to be honest, but we'll see. I'll take photos along the way. Thanks again for all your responses. Still surprised just how little information there is on the Internet with this kind of quick release terminal, I'm sure lots of cars have it.

This sounds like a forum post 'C3 battery quick release' in the tips section when you manage to separate it from the car and get some photos, dimensions, description of operation and how it attaches to the live wire, oh, when you have finished all your other jobsJTizzle wrote:Still surprised just how little information there is on the Internet with this kind of quick release terminal, I'm sure lots of cars have it

The metal is quite thin, but be careful of what's behind the metal. Check you have an empty space behind the hole rather than a bunch of wires. A drill bit can do quite a lot of damage to plastic and copper.JTizzle wrote:I've got myself prepared to have to drill through metal though to be honest
You probably already know, but its worth saying, start drilling with a small hole and work your way up the drill sizes to get to the size you need to take a grommet that will take your wires. If you have space it can be worth 'centre punching' the centre of the hole before you start with the small drill. A step drill removes the need to keep changing up the drill bit sizes as its many drill sizes in one but the disadvantage is that the larger sizes require more clearance behind the hole to allow the tool to pass through.
Take it slow, a battery drill or a mains drill with variable speed will be enough if your drill bits are sharp

Thanks, I think photos really help explain things.JTizzle wrote:I'll take photos along the way.

There's another possible grommet for wiring, if you remove the wipers and the covers over the chamber where the wiper motor and mechanism is, there's a grommet on the drivers side. It means running wiring across from the battery side. This is the route Citroen suggest for the additional wiring when fitting an alarm.

Safe peeps! Missing lincs, I'll have a look tonight where this grommet is hiding by wiper mechanism/motor, just take the cover off and I should be able to see it? C3driver52, Understood it is dodgy drilling through metal but will be extra careful and have grommets in place to fit wire perfectly, mate of mine has drill bits for going through metal but it isn't a fancy one like you mentioned. Also, do you have the link for the thread, 'c3 battery Quick release' as I can't seem to find it, would be helpful as would rather be able to unscrew it off rather than cutting it, subsequently losing slack. Do you peeps think there will be enough slack on battery cable if I do have to cut quick release off and put on another positive terminal??
Safe again guys.
