Hi
I'm guessing there will have been 3 thousand of these requests for help.
BUT basically my factory fitted radio in my 03 c3 is broke. So stupidly I thought how hard can it be? First mistake tight there. So I plugged in my new sony stereo. The plugs seem to fit into each other nicely and my antenna. It was playing great. Even stored all my radio channels and played my CDs.
BUT
Problem 1 my stalks dont work
Problem 2 all my memory on my channels get lost
Problem 3 my radio wouldnt switch off when I turn off my car, so I though il just have to take the front of
Problem 4 my key fob wouldnt unlock my car.

So I scrambled around thinking jesus what can i do nothing is opening the car. After 3 hours realising I could put my key in. Hahaha. So I've just quickly taken this out and now put my old one back in.

My question is, is there anything i can do to get this sorted. Now I have seem some adapters but which ones would solve my problems. I would happily have a proffessional look at it but theres no audio technicians working at mo at halfords etc :(

Hoping someone could tell me in really simple terms what to do and I can just follow the instructions and have this sorted

cut and cross over the wires on the plugs that correspond with pin 4 and pin 7 on the ISO power plug.

so in place of 4---4 and 7---7,
you get 4----7 and 7---4

This will get the central locking and the memory working.

look for 4 and 7 of the ISO Power connector 'A'

You have also asked a similar question on a different part of the forum about getting an adaptor.

yes, you can get an adaptor to swap 4 and 7 over, use this adaptor (on eBay), 4 and 7 are the red and yellow wires on the adaptor.

I know haha I just keep responding to anyone that is kind enough to respond. So I've worked out from you and (again I'm not sure if it's you somewhere else on the forum) I can use this so it will go off when my ignition goes off. Then do I add another adaptor for my steering wheel controls? Sorry to be a nightmare haha!

Hi
One adaptor will allow you to get the power problem sorted where the radio looses the memory and the central remote locking goes to sleep.

The other adaptor is called 'connects2' that AD had put a link in his reply to you in a different post. The connects2 will interface the steering wheel controls to an aftermarket stereo that supports 'S.W.C' - steering wheel control.

You may find it easier with both adaptors and treat them as two jobs, one for the power 'A' plug 7&4 and the other to get the steering wheel controls working.

Thanks so much for that reply.
That's really clear.
So I'm guessing you can link these 2 together? Also it has a little blue jack at the back of my new stereo do I put something I that?
Just on more thing hahahaha
Will my radio go off when my ignition goes off then?

Hi

No idea about your new stereo, if it didn't come with the C3, I wouldn't know much about it.

The C3 has a computer controlled power supply to the radio. You may find the radio only goes off after leaving the car. But without much more re-wiring, it will stay that way. If it stays on, its only for around 30 seconds (all computer control).

Yes, the 2 will link together nicely, but you may have a bit of extra wire tuck out of the way behind the new stereo.

Test it all works properly - radio, central locking, memory etc - before pushing the new radio fully home into the locked position.

Thanks for your help
So far so good. I braved just swapping them like you said... and it seems to turn it off soon after my cars locked and alarmed. And it keeps its memory. I only did it earlier today. So here's hoping it doesnt drain my battery.
Just gunna wait for the steering control thing now from halfords. I dont really need it but for £25 I might aswell restore its function.
It's a connect 2 or something. Keep u posted.
Great site this for these kind of things... as I'm not car savvy at all!
