You may have the speakers incorrectly wired up, the power incorrectly wired up (Pins 4 and 7 correct?) or the volume turned down.

Which alba do you have?

Which citroen C3 do you have?

Which adaptor lead do you have?

Yes, you have a late model connector, the easy solution for you is to buy an adaptor that will fit your C3 plug and the replacement radio.

What replacement radio do you have or are planning to buy and I can look for the correct adaptor.

You also need to consider stalk controls (if you have them) and if you need to continue to use them.

If you needed to use the radio to set the time and other features of the car, you will loose this functionality with anything other than another Citroen radio.
