Hi guys.

My clarion factory fitted stereo has finally given up. It is refusing to eject my CD and after an attempt to remove it I have decided to get a new stereo instead!

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that to prevent having central locking (amongst other) issues I need an adapter. Can anyone tell me what it is exactly I need please.

Thanks in advance

Your memory serves you well.

For the adaptor on a 2003 C3 this one one eBay should do the job. Its not good for the facelift 2006 models but is what you need for the 2002 to 2005 models.

What the adaptor does is swap pins 4 and 7 over on the power plug of the ISO connector. You could do this yourself, but the adaptor makes it easy ;) and gives the option to 'break out' and make a higher power supply to the radio if it needs it.

There are lots of car stereos on eBay, and a good range of stereos on Amazon.

Did you see the CitroenC3owners facebook fanpage posts (https://www.facebook.com/CitroenC3Owners) showing the XTRONS D714G. For your 2003, you can remove the original stereo and use the lead mentioned above. It does DVD, CD, MP3, Bluetooth, Sat Nav and reversing camera. Or a less budget sapping solution found on the forum audio-citroen-c3/do-the-2003-citroen-c3 ... -t662.html which makes even a clarion with a broken cd drive into an MP3 playing stereo with an AUX IN (for iphone/smart phone)

You may need a micro SD card to store MP3s from ebay, if you don't use the aux-in function to play the music.

Brilliant. Thank you for your help.

I actually already have a stereo donated by my dad although now I want the one you showed in the link lol.

Fingers crossed it all goes well once I have the adaptor!

My only concern would be that the donated stereo doesn't have ISO connectors on the back, if not you will need to include a second lead to the first.

Keep us updated on your project please :)
