Hi Folks
I am new to this forum here is the back story
My Daughter recently bought 53 reg C3 all was good for a few weeks till she started getting random losses of power while pulling away from junctions as she is a new driver we just thought it was her clutch control
then the other Sunday she had loss of power and an engine warning light
A friend came round and plugged in his diagnostic tool which gave 2 codes P1631 and P2101 after a google search he started a repair as we found a wire coming out of the top of the ECU through the bulk head and to the connector on the throttle pedal
this was just bared off not soldered and un taped so he renewed the wire, as I was at work at this point i didn't test drive it but he said it was ok but had forgotten to reset the codes
so roll on a week and the car hadn't been driven because my daughter had been walking to work we tried it to find the fault was still there i have since got a Diagnostic tool and tried to reset it but i can't
Here is what i have done so far I unplugged the interconnecting plug on the passenger side which brought up 2 new faults which reset ok , the same fault codes appear when the pedal is unplugged so would it be safe to assume that the interconnecting plug is ok
I then took the foot pedal off to see if i could take it apart got as far as getting the 4 plastic locking pins out and taking the sides off but can't take plastic spindle out without damaging it so put it back together
i did some meter checks on the switch and got
0Ω between pins 1-2, 1-3, 1-4
100Ω between 2-4
41Ω between 2-3
59Ω between 3-4
However these didn't change no matter what the position of the pedal
the pedal has a date stamp of 2014 and the throttle body looks new ish
Do we need a new throttle pedal
Sorry for the ramble but my head is hurting

Its a hall effect sensor.Bobcatatwork wrote:i did some meter checks on the switch and got

Its cheap enough to swap them out, have a look here for pedals.
The advice is to remove the connector and solder the wires directly together.Bobcatatwork wrote:Here is what i have done so far I unplugged the interconnecting plug on the passenger side which brought up 2 new faults which reset ok
If you can get a picture of the connector before and after they would be appreciated

The connector under the passenger side looks to be in very good condition i will spray it with contact spray first before getting the soldering iron out as i am going to need a very long extension i shall also try and meter from end to end on the loom i think this has been a long standing issue with this car and that is why it was sold on the managed to clear the fault and got rid
I shall try and upload some photos tomorrow

The advice is to chop off the connector and solder it instead. I would imagine its been inspected and even tested to a point and seem 'OK' only to give further problems in the past on other cars. Its a common problem.Bobcatatwork wrote:The connector under the passenger side looks to be in very good condition i will spray it with contact spray first before getting the soldering iron out as i am going to need a very long extension i shall also try and meter from end to end on the loom i think this has been a long standing issue with this car and that is why it was sold on the managed to clear the fault and got rid
Thank you. They help others that find this topic from P1631 and P2101 and show them the connectorBobcatatwork wrote:I shall try and upload some photos tomorrow

photo of the plug on the passenger side taken after removing the glove box as I am quite a big unit and don't do well in tight spaces

Thank you for the picture, they are very clear.
I have not seen the different colour wires meet under heat shrink on a C3 from the factory. I think someone has been there before you.
An ideal test for these Citroën connections is to test them with a load. Digital meters don't deliver much loading but the connection will need to stand up to a reasonable flow of current.
Although the heatshrink job looks good, who knows what lurks under it?
