Some engines are self bleeding, some have a bleed screw on the thermostat and you may find one on the heater pipes in the engine bay. Its going to be a case of lookingCitroenclub wrote:Could any tell me where bleed screw is for coolant

Any ideas to what?Citroenclub wrote:I have found leak between engine block and thermostat housing rang Citroens they told me there is no gasket between it anyone have any ideas.
If you have a leak there, I would get a new assembly for the thermostat as was show in the earlier pictures posted and follow the instructions that came with the new part.
Aftermarket parts may not fix or seal in exactly the same way as the original, so its important to read and follow the instructions that come with the new part for a good fit.

Hi citroenclub, I agree wif arfur dent! It maybe that the thermostat stuck closed, or partially so, once, and the extra heat made the water expand to the point of exiting via the thermostat to block connection.
All good news so far though as this is a heck of a lot better than needing a new head gasket, or worse.
If you replace the whole unit, you'll get a new stat as well as a new unit so, once tightened down properly, you may find the problem solved.
In the old days you'd replace the stat and get a new gasket with the stat and in an emergency I have made gaskets from cardboard (cornflake packet type) and a coating of grease on either side, but that was in the days when cars were built to last and not of plastic!
I wouldn't try replacing just the stat (if that is possible, it would not be on ours). The housing will likely have distorted.
