Hi guys, hope someone's got some ideas.
I have a manual c3. When I reach about 40mph a deep humming sound begins. I can't tell where it's coming from. 1 mechanic has told me i need a new gear box while another reckons both rear wheel bearings are shot! Any ideas?
strange noise..

Hello sickboyblue. Welcome to the Citroen C3 Owners forum.
When I started to read your problem the first thing that sprang to mind was wheel bearings.
Its easier to test the wheel bearings than the gearbox, cheaper to change/fix too. You may even find its the wheel bearings AND a problem with the gearbox.
But, without hearing the sound first hand, getting someone else to drive and having a listen near the back, up at the front etc. Its very difficult to diagnose sounds.
Do you only get the noise in gear?
Have you tried 'coasting' at 40 in neutral?
Does the pitch change with speed, engine RPM or gear selected?
Just a few thoughts to try and help gather more information about the problem.
