Hi all
New owner and new forum member with a question.

When I start my C3 (07, 1.4 Petrol) I need to touch the accelerator to get it going. Simply turning the key is not enough.

From what I have read in the manual and on line it sounds like I shouldnt need to. Some say that it should even have any effect due to it all being computer controlled. However, despite what I have read, I HAVE to do it to get it started.

Car runs fine when going. No loss of speed, no misfiring etc that I can tell. And the last service, done about 6 months ago, replaced the plugs.

Should I be concerned? Or just accept it? Do you have to do the same? I was thinking of maybe replacing the coil pack, but dont want to do things if its 'just the way it is'.

Appreciate any advice and guidance.

Thanks

Yes, you shouldn't need to do it and I am surprised it makes any difference on a 1.4 engine. But you do and I can't see it doing any harm and there is nothing to worry about.

I wouldn't start changing any parts on a whim, this can get very expensive and make no difference.

If you were serious about getting to the bottom of it, or you have another fault at some time, get a Diagbox machine and look for fault codes and live data throttle pedal readings.

Oh, and, how much accelerator pedal do you need to give it to start?

Hello Arfur

Thanks for the reply. I only need to touch it a little. It's strange, as you have also said I shouldnt need to, and it shouldnt even make a difference.

Okay, I will wait and see if anything else happens. For the time being though, all seems fine.

Thanks for putting my mind at rest and saving me the hassle of changing the coil pack!

Appreciated.
