Hi. I have a 2004 c3 sx 1.4 sensodrive. I am having intermittent starting problems. Sometimes when i try to turn the egine over it just clicks and wont start. After several attempts it will start. Other days i have no problems. Could it be my starter motor? If so where is it located as i cant seem to see it anywhere!

If its the 'stop and start' car with sensodrive, then there is no starter motor!

Its got a reversible alternator - one unit that does 2 jobs ;)

If you want to condemn the starter of a car, get the battery tested first as this can save frustrations later.

Then the starter has to be on the flywheel end of the engine, remove the air filter, find the bell housing and you will eventually find the starter motor.

This picture of the engine removed from the car, showing the starter motor and starter solenoid attached to the gearbox on the rear of the engine

Did the non starting problem occur after the battery change? or did you change the battery because the car didn't like to start?

How many miles has the car done?

Could it be my starter motor?
Could be the starter, the starter solenoid, or it could be a wiring problem from the battery or the ignition switch.
