Hi All

Been looking at the forum a fair bit recently. Looks like a great community, hopefully some useful people can offer me some advice. :D
I'm buying a 52 plate C3 next weekend. 1.4 petrol, 74k miles on the clock in a beautiful blue colour. Looks like a great car.
The owner said it's been having some problems with one of the cylinders, and apparently it only runs on 3 from time to time.

I'm buying it on the assumption it will be fairly easily fixed with either New plugs, new injector, or a new coil pack. Or hopefully just a good blast with some V power and Red-Ex

What do you guys reckon??

Thanks

Check for water dripping from the washer jet pipe, the drips land on the injector causing it to malfunction.

But as you say, it could be coil pack, plugs, etc. A cheap, hand-held OBD Reader (ebay) would give some indication on where the fault lies from the error codes stored.

Problems can be expensive and time consuming to diagnose, I hope the price reflect the fault ;)

You are welcome to add some pictures of the car in the C3 club area if you buy it :)

Hi Mate, thanks for the reply. Thats a great little tip, I'll be sure to check the washer pipes
I've priced up the parts on ECP, and I could replace all the plugs, coils and an injector for £81. These C3's have some really well priced parts available. Valeo as well, so not just some rubbish.

I'll be collecting it next week, I'll definately get some "before and after" pictures up. I'm, going to see if I can correct some of the paintwork as well and bring her back to her former glory!

Right, so for anyone who is still reading this thread:

I picked the car up at the weekend. It started first time, but it's clear its only running on 3 cylinders. As I already knew.
I drove it all the way home (about 75 miles) and it only cost me £10 in fuel!!! Amazing little car.
Got all my parts from ECP yesterday, new plugs, injector and coil pack, for £81!! Brilliant price.

Clutch is well high, but not too much of an issue for a little runaround I guess.
Paintwork is a little sorry for itself, but nothing a DA can't fix

Apart from that, the body is in great condition, and it's fully tricked out. Electric mirrors, air con, cd player, fog lights.. the works!

Going to attack it at the weekend, so will post a full write up, and before and after pictures.... Prepare to be amazed... or just mildly interested... or just totally nonchalant
