Well...
After a bit of research I have now discovered that there is two Camshaft sensors fitted to the EBO engine.
So if I change one sensor I think I have to change both of them so I have now have both of them on order and I have also taken the decision to change the Crankshaft sensor as well at the same time!
Don't know what else to do..

I would recommend doing a bit of research and see if there is any ECU "learning" associated with the new camshaft sensors. I don't know if there is or isn't.
Good luck.
Good luck.

No!..it is what might be called an on-going project, although I have called it other things not repeatable on here at various times!
Has been giving me problems with the P1338 Error code since last October.

I thought I would update the forum on my attempts to solve the P1338 issue on our C3 1.0l vtr EBO engine.
The car continues to only do 100-200 miles before repeatedly showing P1`338, running rough and going into Limp mode. Coolant Fan also comes on. P1338 says intermittent misfire on No 2 cylinder.
All the above is as previously reported on this issue.
After the last time it happened which was two weeks ago I changed the Camshaft Sensor ( Autotada says there is two sensors fitted to this engine but it is incorrect there is only one fitted and it is on the exhaust camshaft).
Crankshaft Sensor was also changed at this point.
After-Cat Oxygen Lambda sensor also changed at this point.
So far the total parts changed in order to try and cure this P1338 problem are:-
No2 Coil Pack.
No2 Spark Plug ( All 3 were changed only 3000 miles ago).
No2 Fuel Injector.
Pre-Cat Oxygen Lamda Sensor.
After-Cat Oxygen Lamda Sensor.
Crankshaft Sensor.
Camshaft Sensor.
The car has now done 180miles since the last round of sensor changes so I will keep the forum update posted of how things go and if it is now hopefully cured!
As you can imagine with this long running saga ( since last October)I have all things crossed ?

Well just a further update on my P1338 saga is that after the last round sensor changes in the long running saga to cure this problem as my per previous posts, the car has now done approx 500miles without any further problems at all! So hopefully I think we just may have cracked it at last!
To reiterate the last round of sensor changes were:-
After-cat Lambda Oxy sensor.
Crank sensor.
Camshaft sensor.
Hopefully now ..The end!

Well, it was too good to be true that was cured wasn't it!.....After 3months and 700+ miles P1338 (OBD11 definition is No 3 intermittent misfire)came back on yet again. Symptoms as before ..Management Light comes on, car then runs very rough and coolant fan comes on.
Delete code leave car a while and then car runs just perfectly.
So deleted code once again and it has now come on again now after less than 25miles...!!
So to list once again items changed since last October when it first started throwing up this P1338 and going into this limp mode scenario. Had car for 4years/25,000miles with trouble free motoring before this issue:-
All spark plugs changed but number 3 spark plug changed twice.
No 3 Coil Pack
No 3 Fuel Injector
Pre Cat Lambda Sensor
After Cat Lambda Sensor
Crankshaft Sensor
Camshaft Sensor
If anone can now give any further ideas/thoughts on this they would be very much appreciated.....I am out of ideas myself on what to do!

Hello,
I ´m having the same problem in my Peugeot 208 1.0... the same dtc codes and everything...
So I was thinking if at this time you solve your problem, and how?
At was the next steps in car parts replacement?

Hi,
Sorry to hear of you have the dreaded P1338 problem. If you have read through this thread from the begining you can see the problems that I encountered and the number of items that were replaced...the pre Cat Lamba sensor I replaced twice!
Time and time again I thought I had cured it only for it to come back again after a few weeks.
However I am please to report that the car has now done approximately 1500 miles and some 3-months or so have passed since the last occurence of P1338 and the car going into undriveable limp mode.
Have we finally cured it.?...I don't know! ....and if I have then what finally cured it....there again I don't know!
So sorry I can't be much help to you and say what it was that cured it, or even if I have finally cured it.
All I can suggest is you read through all the items that you can see I have changed and try and replicate it on your car...it is not a cheap process but all I can suggest and it is a lot cheaper than taking it to a dealer who from my experience know less than I do!
I wish you the best of luck...modern cars with all their electronic sensors are a real pain!

If you take the OBDII scanner at face value, then the fault is associated with the No3 cylinder. So that means it's not the crank angle sensor or the camshaft sensor or the pre or post cat sensors. If you have changed the plug, injector and coil for the No3 cylinder then that just leaves the wiring. The wiring for the coil low side or the injector. Both from the engine to the engine ECU. Check the connector at the coil and injector, check the wiring from the coil to the engine ecu. Check the connector at the engine ECU. Check the connectors for corrosion.
Don't change things, swap them around! If the fault moves it was the component. If it doesn't move, it wasn't that component, try another. Only swap two things at a time. Chose coils, plugs or injectors but don't change them all at once! One thing at a time!
It is also possible that one of the driver transistors in the engine ECU for the coils or the injectors is faulty. But you don't want that!! However...those transistors don't fix themselves. So it's unlikely to be that.
