Hello I have just acquired a 2012 c3 1.4 exclusive with 48575 miles on the clock, the car is in great condition and you can tell it has never been abused. The problem I need help with is the engine warning light keeps coming on and a message comes up saying Engine fault repair needed. To date I have serviced the car new plugs oil filters etc. I have checked the engine code online and it refers to a misfire, so I have fitted four new ignition coils no difference the code keeps coming back {P1337} when I clear them. I have also removed and cleaned the OCV sensor, was told this can bring up engine fault light.
The car runs fine with the fault light up, no loss of power. the previous owner said he just lived with the problem and ignored the engine light, but its an MOT failure.
The only other issue I noticed with the car is the engine coolant temperature lamp stays on for up to 6 miles of driving and the cooling fan stays on for 5 to 10 minutes after the car has stopped even when the engine is cold. Not sure if this is related to my fault code in some way.
Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Hi

The fault will return if it is detected again. You get this when there is a fault and you don't fix it. Just deleting the codes each time doesn't fix anyting.

P1337 is a Ignition System, cylinder 1 - misfire detected.

Look at the plugs and compare the deposits with the one from no1.

You can attach pictures to the forum following these instructions

Also you can try swapping injectors to see if the fault moves. This can help pin down where the problem is.

Thanks for your reply I'm aware that clearing the fault code will not clear the problem. Only cleared faults after trying something new, like swapping around the ignition coils, fault never moved .As I previously posted, I have changed all four ignition coils and the fault still shows as p1337 after the you turn on and off the engine several times. Just doesn't make sense.

A misfire just means that a certain cylinder didn't produce a power stroke at the moment the engine ECU predicted it should. Remember the cylinder needs to have compression, oxygen, spark...and fuel! If any one of these is missing it will cause a misfire. You have tried spark, compression and oxygen should be OK.

As Arfur says, try the injectors.
