I recently purchased I 2014 64 plate Citroen C3 1.0L.
The car has had the Coil pack and spark plugs replaced prior to us purchasing.
Since purchasing the car we have returned to the garage on a number of occasions to diagnose why the engine management light keeps appearing.
The car has also been taken to a Citroen main dealer to have a software update.
The garage have also replaced a heat and cool sensor and a crank sensor in the hope that this would resolve the engine management light problem
Whilst driving, the car today the car bleeped and the engine management light started flashing and after a short distance the car bleeped again and the engine management light became solid the car appeared to go into limp home mode.
On returning to the garage for them to check an error code of P1336 was found.
I would appreciate any help or guidance you can offer in resolving the above issue
I look forward to your replies

Unfortunately I do not know whether this was the original code or whether a lot there were other codes stored prior to today's event

This is going to make it much more difficult to diagnose. A recurring fault that keeps getting 'fixed' is very different from a series of common codes that are all linked in some way.
P1336 is a crank signal/injector fault. The confusion is because some engines generate the crank signal from the injector pulse and don't actually have a crank sensor fitted.
To drill down to the correct description for the fault, use lexia tool to do that.
The 3 cylinder has a crank sensor
Number 4 in the diagram
But if it has only recently been purchased, it would be better to reject the car and get your money back/get a different car.

So I have taken the vehicle back to the garage they have replaced the oil pressure sensor cam sensor along with the knock sensor. Drove around in vehicle for for about 7 mile.
Then the engine management light on, I was travelling in 3rd Gear slowing for vehicle in front then accelerated car bleeped engine light came on went into limp home mode radiator running full speed engine management light has not cleared so far.
What else could it be I am at a total loss as to what is going on?

Did the car ever work properly from driving it from the sale?DavidC3 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 10:18 am So I have taken the vehicle back to the garage they have replaced the oil pressure sensor cam sensor along with the knock sensor. Drove around in vehicle for for about 7 mile.

If the garage you purchased it from tried to fix it and can't. it is time to reject the car back to the seller.
You may need to talk to your local Citizens Advice for help
If it was a private sale, then there is not much you can do that a garage can't.
They are doing the diagnostics and reading the codes and you only have a record of one, where the parts they changed and the software update indicates were more codes.
Ultimately the garage will say it is the ECU, because effectively everything else has been changed or checked

Hello all and @DavidC3 were you able to fix the car? I know you posted the problem like 2 years back. I recently bought a C3 (private sale) and it’s having this same problem. The seller never made mention of the problem and I only got to discover 2hrs after buying the car while going up the hill. The car struggles to climb the hill and few mins later the engine light was flashing. I parked the car and the fan was blowing so hard. I noticed it consumes Petrol whenever it struggles to climb hill and it drives very very smooth on a level ground or motorway and lesser petrol consumption. I used the OBD II and it shows error code p1336 (manufacturer control). Please I need advice before taking to garage and spending money and same thing happening again. Thanks
