Hello rod_259
If it smelled of anything else, then it may not be the loom, but what did it smell of? Could it be something not part of the car that had been burned? maybe some rubbish? But I don't know how it could affect the engine....
If it smelled of burned plastic, then it could be the wiring loom has shorted out and burned. But its only a guess, I think you may have to do a bit of investigating to look for a damaged engine loomrod_259 wrote:My C3 today started to over rev yet lost power and eventually stopped. Hi - it is the 'burning' smell of a clutch overreving I think definitely not rubbish. Whilst on M62 car revving but slowing down and then you go smell which was no doubt result of the problem

This sounds like classic clutch failure.rod_259 wrote:Hi - it is the 'burning' smell of a clutch overreving I think definitely not rubbish. Whilst on M62 car revving but slowing down and then you go smell which was no doubt result of the problem
I thought you meant the car revved itself, but now it appears no matter how many revs you give it, the car gets slower and makes a burning clutch smell.
I would say 'Clutch'
