Hi all in need of a little help please.
We have a lovely little C3 sx auto 1.4 petrol. It drives great non of the brakes are resisting the wheels when driving and there are no issue codes when plugged up for analysis. But this car is only giving us about 22mpg it has achived 270miles per full tank of fuel. Can anyone help out here please you may have come across this problem before.

It has a new air filter engine oil plus filter i did notice when I took off the air filter box there was a black component that is part of the auto gear box that has a a electrical two male prongs on it without any electrical cable attached.

There are a couple of plugs that have no homes on the various models of the C3, so I wouldn't worry to much there.

What did you use to read the codes?

Does it accelerate rapidly, as you would expect, all through the gears?

Any odd smells, hunting from the exhaust at idle, strange noises?

it is hunting a little when ticking over there I no odd smells of fuel running to rich or any smells of oil burning and it is not using up oil. my mate put it on a little unversal code reader yellow in colour thats all I now and he said there were no codes showing with ignition on nd when we started it the were no issues on the idle test ?????
sorry last thing there is a lul when it changes gear so my mrs drives it in S mode
no strange noises
I am not surprised the fuel consumption gets worse in 'S' or sports mode, the gear change is later and revs are higher.

I don't know the official consumption figures in 'S' but it would be worth checking that you are 'out of spec.' before trying to diagnose something that is not there.
