Hi folks, so my wife has a 2005 Citroen C3, and recently it was serviced and had an MOT.
Two weeks later (because of Lockdown) I moved the car for the first time to find two black spots of oil underneath the engine. The garage who originally did the service and MOT took it in and found a faulty oil pressure switch.
I questioned why this had only started since the service (is it because they added oil and so more was in the system?) and if not, why had it not been noticed during the MOT/service when they checked everything and added oil etc. He replied: "Can't really be sure if it was leaking when we had the car in last but as you asked us to specifically check for an oil leak we checked all possible sources and discovered the oil pressure switch leak which is a fairly common fault on your engine".
So petrolheads, is that a common fault on a Citroen C3?
And shouldn't this have been noticed during the service? I am dubious.

Hi
If the garage gave you a complete list of everything not quite right when you took it for a service, the car would be uneconomical to repair.
A service would be fluids, filters and the checks, the checks are basic and the garage would expect to see some evidence of leaks on a 2005, but won't know if they have already been repaired.
You asked them to investigate a particular issue and they did, they even found the problem.
Yes, oil pressure switches leak, it could well have been in the engine since 2005 so it's done pretty well.
If you have the pressure switched changed and still have a leak, then I would question the garage further, but so far, everything sounds just as to be expected.
