Hi,

My Citroen C3 1.3 Petrol 2003 is not staring. The engine turns over but no start.

Fault code showing on OBD reader is P1612. Anyone have any information on this fault code or ideas why its not staring?

Thanks!

Hi Mobi

Sounds like an immobiliser problem. (Faulty immobiliser communication to BSI/ECU)

Have you had any work done on the car or keys recently before the fault appeared?

Time to dig out the security card from the handbook folder if its going to citroen for diagnosis.

Have you done anything after getting this problem, like checking all the fuses (fuse box locations topic) etc

P1612 , turns over, but won't start is a immobiliser problem.

Usually the key is the problem. There is a immo chip in the key fob and if this has moved from its correct position or not been replaced after fitting a new pip battery then you get P1612, a non starter.

A bit of light reading on how the immobilizer system works here.

If the car unlocks with the remote fob, then the car side of the immobilizer is probably OK. As the fob receiver also decodes the immobilizer chip.
Fault might be in the key I.E. the RFID chip.

You could try a BSI reset (cant hurt).
