My 2016 C3 only revs to 2000rpm in reverse gear...

Questions specifically about a Petrol powered Citroen C3 (usually engine or fuel related problems).

..can someone please tell me is that right? It has petrol 1.2 110bhp purtech engine with S/Stop. Forward gears all rev freely.
I have had the car just 2 months and initially couldn't work out why reversing uphill was so difficult. Returned to where I bought it from and they say the Citroen dealer has said this is a 'safety feature' and there is nothing wrong with the car.

I have never heard of this feature in any other vehicle!

A top speed in reverse would have made more sense as a safety feature.

As you say, limiting the RPM isn't so helpful in some situations.

Some powerful high vehicles, like 4x4 are limited to speed, around 16MPH in reverse because they are not very stable.

It will be a software feature, but I don't know if it can be configured in lexia/diagbox tool or not.

I've never heard of this, but I've just tried it, and mine won't go above 2000 rpm either.

Initially this seemed a real pain but after getting used to it I'm not finding it such a big problem now. The clutch has a high biting point so letting it up relatively quickly around halfway as you reverse makes it easy to pull away.

I had a Hyundai i20 which was really hard to avoid over revving and often had a burning smell from clutch when reversing up hill.

This is something Citroen should have made aware in the car manual and why the hell wasn't hill start assist included with this car?? :(

Interestingly, my car is also a Puretch 110bhp, and it does have hill start assist. It was not an optional extra, so it may be a later addition (mine is a 19 reg).
