Hello dolphin,
Welcome to the C3 forum,
Looks like you stopped by just in time.
Its not advisable to drive the car with the MIL or engine light on, espically as the enghine misfires as this can do damage to the catalytic converter and therfore cost you more money to fix the car.
Its good that MIL or Engine Managment light is on, this means there should be some codes in the computer to help diagnose the cause.
Misfiring, missing, cutting out and lack of power could be due to fuel or electrical problems. If the car is due a service, maybe its worth checking the service items as these may be worn out.
What year, model and mileage is your poorly C3?
Getting an OBD2 reader connected to the car would be a good start, getting the LEXIA reader (info here) connected would be ideal. Most garages will have an OBD, Mostly LEXIA is restricted to Citroen garages.

A typical OBD2 scanner for home users, covers the petrol C3 from 2002.
A useful reference for C3 owners interested in doing their own fault finding and maintenance (but doesn't cover the OBD side of things)
