My wife has 2003 1.4 sx petrol and I want to replace lambda sensor located by upper exhaust guard. I have removed the exhaust guard but what size spanner do I need to undo the sensor please. I take it that an open ended spanner is the only way to remove it.

If you are not going to use the sensor again, you could chop the wire off and use a socket on itbobbybiscuit wrote:My wife has 2003 1.4 sx petrol and I want to replace lambda sensor located by upper exhaust guard. There are a couple of O2 and Lambda sensors at Euro Car Parts for various C3 engines.
The size of one of the sensors, if not both is 22mm.
There is a 'special tool (here on ebay)' for removing the O2 sensors that are a socket with a cut out for the cables, this way you can use a long bar on the socket.

This tool for removing the O2 sensor is available from HERE (via Amazon)

The oil filter is in a black plastic reusable carrier, look to the right of your upper lambda sensor and down into the engine bay a bit.

Great info. Thank you. I have a 22 socket. The new one I have got already from Europarts. I will have to get a 22 open-ended spanner to do up the new one.

I decided in the end to buy the tool you suggested on eBay. I bought some engine flush. My word the oil was really dirty. New oil and new oil filter fitted. I did leave the car for 30 minutes you allow the dirty oil to drain out. Nice easy job to do so will keep on top of oil and filter changes.
