Just recently the power steering is failing on my 2003 c3, After switching the ignition on and off it returns to normal,this as only just started happening after 1000 trouble free miles(only just purchased the a month ago) could anyone please tell me the procedure of tracing down the problem.Thanks

Inspection would be a good start, inspect all the wiring to the ECU, BSI and Power steering ECU and PS motor, looking for damage, poor connections etc.
Another step would be to interrogate the onboard computers to see if there are any error codes left by the power steering ECU, you need to use Lexia tool for this.
After looking for power steering ECU codes, look for any other fault codes. Clear each one (by fixing the problem) and test if the power steering fault has gone.
