Hi, Does anybody know the correct idling speed for the New shape C3 and is it easy to adjust? It is a 2011 1.6 Petrol Auto. I have a ticking noise coming from under the car when stationery with the engine running, and when I slightly increase the engine speed the noise disappears.
Thanks WILLI

There is no manual idle speed adjustment. Its all computer controlled. Clever stuff, the computer measures the engine speed at idle and as the loads change (e.g. air con/alternator etc) then the idle speed is adjusted keep the it at the pre-programmed level. The idle speed stepper motor may need cleaning or replacing, but its still quite a new car.

Check the RPM at idle is actually within spec, then you can decide if you need to replace the idle speed stepper motor (the whole throttle body).

Gone are the days of tweaking the idle adjustment screw.

I think you should find the reason for the noise if the RPM is in spec. Change or repair the noisy part that is faulty. If you don't you may find it gets worse and you need more and more revs to quieten it down or gets more expensive to replace if its left longer.

Thanks C3 Driver for your comments, Here I am miles behind the times again, I thought it would be a 1/4 turn on the throttle screw.
I went over to the dealers today to let them hear it when I got there guess what, no ticking noise. So I drove back home without even going in. As I knew it would be a waste of time, gets back home and yes it was there again. So I will be going back in the hope that I can let them here it. It is still under warranty so I need it looking into. Thanks once again for your reply, I'll post the results when I have had it looked in to. WILLI
