I have Citroen C3 66 plate petrol 1.2 Puretech which I bought 2 months ago from a well known dealer. When reversing backwards each day from cold the car will not rev above 2000 rpm. I originally thought it was the clutch not engaging until I noticed regardless of how far I pressed accelerator it would not rev up. I can only get the car moving by very careful use of the clutch and once car is driven it revs fine from then on.
I am letting the dealer have a look next week but wondered what might be causing it and if this is a common problem

Hello chegz
It could well be the engine temperature sensor, but the way to diagnose this is to read the code and do some live data tests using Lexia tool (here).
It is not a common problem with this engine as far as I know.

Thank you for reply Arfur.
The dealer is looking at the car next week. As I only purchased car 2 months ago I'll give them one chance to repair it. Strange how it only happens in reverse gear. I have video proof of the fault just in case they try to fob me off!
Being such a newish car I'm quite disappointed in Citroen and wonder if I have made the right choice of vehicle?

Lets see what the dealer says about repair under warranty before writing Citroen off.
All manufacturers have cars that develop faults, it is how the customer is dealt with that really shows how good the network of support is.
It would be very interesting to hear what they find and what they propose to do about it
Fault is present all the time now so at least they won't be able to say no fault found. It's a bugger trying to reverse up a steep hill where I live with only 2000 rpm!
