Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this. A family member has a C3, which they've had from new and had been running faultlessly until late last year. During a very heavy rain shower the car started misfiring and then the engine management light came on and the car went into limp home mode.
At this point the car needed to be kept at high rev's to prevent it from stalling. It couldn't idle until it had been running for about 20 minutes. The engine management light was on.
A local mechanic checked the cars error codes and it reported an error with injector 4, he cleaned this as it appeared corroded and reset the codes.
The car was fine for about 2 weeks before the engine light came back on and again couldn't idle. The mechanic then changed the coil pack and the same scenario it work for a while before reverting back to the idling issue and warning light.
We then stumbled across the threads about the common issue with the washer nozzle leak and found our model had the faulty part, tested it and confirmed it was leaking. The mechanic sealed the washers with silicon, cleaned injector 4 again. The light wasn't reset (the machine wasn't to hand) but the car didn't misfire or require high rev's to prevent idle but was in limp home mode.
When the engine light was reset a week later, all was well for a few short trips but the light has come back on but still no side effects other than the limp home mode. Apparently this time the light was intermittent for a while before turning on permanently.
Would anyone have any clues about what else could have gone wrong, the error codes have apparently only shown issues with injector 4 and the coil pack. Can the leak cause other problems or can the light need to be reset multiple times. I'm grasping at straws but my family member is considering scrapping the car and it seems a shame if this is a known issue.
Thanks any help appreciated.

Hi c3itsnotmine
This sounds very much like a petrol engine problem you are describing.
Use the latest codes to diagnose the fault.
List the fault 'P' codes here is you want some code advice.
Leaking washer jets causes damage to fuel injector on the C3

Read the codes again, use an OBD reader like this one (HERE). If it comes up with codes, clear them. Run the car and if a fault appears, read the codes again.c3itsnotmine wrote:Would anyone have any clues about what else could have gone wrong, the error codes have apparently only shown issues with injector 4 and the coil pack.

Water has damaged the injector or plug connection.c3itsnotmine wrote:During a very heavy rain shower the car started misfiring and then the engine management light came on and the car went into limp home mode.
Its a known issue and known solution, check the injector plug and change the injector after fitting the replacement washer jets with the seal - or just seal them with silicone.c3itsnotmine wrote: I'm grasping at straws but my family member is considering scrapping the car and it seems a shame if this is a known issue.

Thanks for the quick reply, I hadn't realised odb2 readers were so cheap, I shall order one and do as you suggest. I don't suppose anyone wold know the parts costs of a new injector and/or injector plug connector and if this could be a diy job or if it would need to go to the mechanic.
thanks again.
thanks again.

It could well be a DIY job, have a look here to find the cost of an injector for your particular model. Enter your reg to get the right part listed.c3itsnotmine wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2017 8:07 am Thanks for the quick reply, I hadn't realised odb2 readers were so cheap, I shall order one and do as you suggest.
