1.4, 8 valve, c3. Looks like my ecu is on the blink. Started to get a :electric curcuit faulty: message on dash and a surge in idle speed. This has now gone to an :ecu faulty: message and a bigger surge in idle speed, with no responce to the accelerator pedal. Any guidance on replacement ecu's will be of help.(no second hand please).

Not second hand? You will need to contact Citroen for a new one? Engine ECU is easily removed, but needs pairing to the BSI.

Proper diagnostics would be the best start to ensure the engine ECU is actually at fault.

Spot on C3CAR. Fault with m.a.p sensor and faulty alternator caused the problem. Why faulty ecu came up i dont know, but a good job the wife stopped me looking further.(sic) In the past i have been sceptical regarding Lexia's etc but slap on wrist and lesson learnt.

Thanks.

Bad voltages play havoc with the ECU program and it thinks itself is faulty :(

Thanks for the update :)
