Hi I'm a newbie to the forum. Nice to meet you all.
I have a 1.4 16v 2003 C3. Following a long journey as I was about 3 miles from home my engine light flashed on briefly then after that I had poor acceleration in low revs but when I got to about 2500-3000 rpm it accelerated as normal.
For about 4 days it was like this when one morning when I started it I revved it to about 3-4000 rpm and I heard what was like plastic cracking and the engine cut out and it hasn't started since. When its turning over and I press the throttle fully down it seems like its going to start but it doesn't.
I've since replaced the Throttle Position Sensor but didn't make a difference. I'm now thinking it could be the crank position sensor.
But the weird thing it it hasn't showed any OBD codes at all which has completely baffled me.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
Cheers.
Cut out wont start

Hi custard1963, welcome to the forum.
Do you have a mechanical failure like cam belt broken or some other valve or piston problem?
What led you to do this?custard1963 wrote:I've since replaced the Throttle Position Sensor
What leads you to think this is at fault.custard1963 wrote:I'm now thinking it could be the crank position sensor.
Have you investigated what could have cracked by inspection?custard1963 wrote: I started it I revved it to about 3-4000 rpm and I heard what was like plastic cracking and the engine cut out
What are you using to read codes?custard1963 wrote:But the weird thing it it hasn't showed any OBD codes

Probably best to not keep trying to start it, but all the damage has already been done. Do a visual inspection in the timing and engine components.custard1963 wrote:Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
