Hey all,
Just got back from MOT'ing my car (passed) - however, as i was doing my checks yesterday, i checked and toppped up all fluids (including coolant) as it was right at the bottom of the expansion tank.. When i was driving home from the MOT i got a brief engine temp (coolant) warning light which lasted about 1 second.
I was near home so pulled up and had a look, coolant level had dropped again - but no sign of any obvious leak..
Also the mechanic who did the MOT (a local chap) suggested i contact Citroen (still under extended warranty) about a "common" issue with these 1.4 engines, he said something about one of the bolts that holds the cylinder head (Drivers side) was leaking, and that i should get it fixed... thoughts?
Either way its booked in to the dealer on Friday - just seeking some advice as to what the problems may actually be, should be covered under warranty, but as with all these things forever worried that they may sting me for something!!!
Car is Citroen C2 mk2 1.4 VTR+ Petrol 2011.
Ta,
Andy

Hello patonar
That's always nice to hearpatonar wrote:Just got back from MOT'ing my car (passed)

It only takes a tiny pin prick of a hole in a coolant pipe to leak enough to empty the expansion bottle on a runpatonar wrote:I was near home so pulled up and had a look, coolant level had dropped again - but no sign of any obvious leak..
If its under warranty, I would get citroen to fix the leak. Let them work out where its leaking from - that's their job too.patonar wrote:Also the mechanic who did the MOT (a local chap) suggested i contact Citroen (still under extended warranty) about a "common" issue with these 1.4 engines, he said something about one of the bolts that holds the cylinder head (Drivers side) was leaking, and that i should get it fixed... thoughts?
I don't know what your warranty covers. But to avoid being 'stung' you can discuss and agree a maximum cost/time for investigation and get them to call you and agree a price before doing any work and discuss with them what is and is not covered in the warranty so none of it will be a surprise for you.patonar wrote:Either way its booked in to the dealer on Friday - just seeking some advice as to what the problems may actually be, should be covered under warranty, but as with all these things forever worried that they may sting me for something!!!
